Insect fed eggs sold in the Netherlands

A Dutch supermarket chain has started to sell eggs from chickens fed a dry feed diet, complimented with live insects. The live insects (larvae from the Black Soldier Fly) have been provided by Protix. Feeding insect meal is not allowed in the EU, feeding live insects is allowed. The eggs are marketed under the name ‘Oerei’

New premix facility for ADM Animal Nutrition

Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) opened its new, high-tech premix facility in Effingham, Illinois, US. The new facility features state-of-the-art technology, including: Automation within receiving, batching, packaging, and load out, multiple batching systems with simultaneous weighing for high efficiency and high output, metal detection and protection from receiving to packaging, in-line screening, sizing, and sifting capabilities and a bar coding system that uniquely identifies each item all the way from receiving to shipping.

MFeed+, launched in Peru

MFeed+, Olmix’s natural solution to boost feed efficiency and optimise the activity of digestive enzymes, is now part of the Olmix Animal Care portfolio in Peru. Olmix Group, along with Montana, its distributor in the country, hosted several launch events on the 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th April in Lima and Trujillo, where the product was presented to more than 130 professional experts from the animal livestock industry. MFeed+ will be the 3rd product focused on animal health and welfare that Olmix introduces into the Peruvian market in the last 3 years, after launching its mycotoxin binder MT.X+ in April 2015 and its environment sanitiser Mistral in April 2016.

Feedpreservation.com: New platform for farmers

The website Feedpreservation.com is a new technical online platform solely about preserving feed and forage. It has regular updates with technical information and hands-on advice. Farmers can read about mould inhibition, mycotoxin prevention, feed hygiene, silage and TMR preservation amongst others. The website is an initiative of Swedish organic acid producer Perstorp.

Prosol S.p.A debuts in the pet food market

Making its debut in the pet-food market, Prosol S.p.A, international market leader in nutritional ingredients, launched a new product for pets branded under the names of petMOD™. The product has a high content of free nucleotides qualitatively and quantitatively standardised, specifically developed to enhance immune system response, to improve animal health and to promote an efficient gastrointestinal activity in dogs, cats and monogastrics. Studies showed the beneficial effect of this product also in the treatment of leishmania infection and in improving immune parameters and protein synthesis in weanling puppies and adults dogs.

Nutreco takes share in IoT start-up Eruvaka

Nutreco has invested in Eruvaka, an India-based Internet of Things (IoT) company that develops connected devices and mobile-based decision tools to help aquaculture farmers reduce risk and increase productivity. Nutreco has taken a 25% share in Eruvaka and has entered into a commercial partnership to help scale Eruvaka globally. The investment is in line with Nutreco’s mission of ‘Feeding the Future’; the company’s ambition to contribute to producing enough nutritious and high-quality food for a growing population in a sustainable way. Nutreco’s aquaculture division Skretting will work directly with Eruvaka to implement the latest in precision farming technology, firstly in Latin America. The technology will be incorporated into AquaSim, Skretting’s suite of customised performance tools, to allow local shrimp farmers to remotely ensure accurate dosages of the right feed when their stock requires it, avoiding over- or under-feeding.

Bühler opens new manufacturing and R&D site in China

With a 3 day event in April and over 400 guests from over 30 countries, Bühler officially opened its latest addition to its global manufacturing and service network in Changzhou, China. The brand-new facility includes an R&D center and will mainly serve the fast-growing animal nutrition industry as well as the grain logistics business. The 200,000m2 green field construction is Bühler’s latest addition to its global supply chain and service network. It is a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant that meets the highest Swiss quality standards for the global animal feeds and grain logistic markets. The facility includes a comprehensive animal nutrition R&D Application Center over 5,200m2 spreading over 4 floors. It is operated by around 15 Bühler employees operating two pilot plants

Algebra Bio and SIS Launch Xpel in Thailand

Algebra Bio has announced the appointment of BIS Group as their strategic distribution partner in Thailand. Special Ingredient Services (SIS – a member of the BIS Group) is one of Thailand’s biggest players in animal pharmaceutical, feed additive and raw materials. BIS Group serve all types of customers across ASEAN region with great distribution channel, technical support and marketing strategy. In collaboration with SIS, Algebra Bio will be launching a range of innovative solutions in Thailand, including cost effective mycotoxin binders, yeast and probiotic products and essential oil products from high potency European origin. The first of these products is unique freshwater diatomite mycotoxin binder and performance improver under the brand Xpel. Produced to highest specifications in Australia, this is the first time such a product is being made available in Thailand.

International Feeds & Nutrition Course improved

This years’ Feeds & Nutrition Course, organised by Schothorst Feed Research in the Netherlands, has been adapted to recent market developments and suggestions of former participants. The course is designed to give the participants various tools to formulate feeds in their specific situations. The course is distinctive, because of its combination of in depth theoretical background combined with its applicability. The content is focussed on dairy, swine and poultry nutrition and presented by renowned specialists. Around 130-150 participants are expected, representing 30 countries, which is a unique opportunity to meet experts from the feed industry from all over the world. The 8th edition will be held 11-15 June 2018 at the Inntel Hotels in Zaandam, near Amsterdam. The modules will be held over the course of one week and will be given in English. Registration is required before May 25.

Nuscience launches next phase of Biotica
