£325k awarded to university to improve animal feed
The University of Nottingham has been awarded money as part of a £1.5m research project boost.
Researchers at the university, along with Scotland’s Rural College and the National Institute of Agricultural Botany, will be using £325,000 (€381k) to work out the optimum levels of rapeseed meal in animal feed.
Head of business development at the Home Grown Cereals Authority, Dr Martin Grantley-Smith, said: “This will cut down on waste for the benefit of the whole supply chain.”
The project will look at how higher levels of rapeseed meal could be included in pig and poultry feed without compromising feed specifications or animal performance.
