ABB signs grain deal with university

19-07-2007 | |

ABB Grain Limited, based in Adelaide, Australia has signed a AUS$5.7 million (US$5 million) research deal with the University of Adelaide.

The money will be spent to research new varieties of
grain to be grown in areas of South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.

ABB director Andy Barr said to news agency AAP his company would
contribute “cash and in-kind support for the research.” He said the company
would benefit from a “…share in any revenue received from varieties released
during the life of the agreement through revenue of seed sales, a share of
breeder’s royalties and fees for management of licensing growers and collection
of the breed royalty.”
