In the industrial park of Pöttelsdorf, an hour south of Vienna, Austria Pet Food builds a 9,000 square metre hall for Europe’s most modern pet food plant.
Not only the Pöttelsdorfer turkey, also food for cats and dogs is to be produced in the future in the city of the District Mattersburg. The Austria Pet Food recently had a groundbreaking ceremony for “Europe’s most modern plant for pet food,” with an investment of €25 million and creating 50 new jobs.
In the industrial park of Pöttelsdorf a 9,000 square metre hall is built in which production should start in the second quarter of 2013.
Per year, 200 million cans of pet food are to be produced, mainly private label products for retailers and pet stores.
“We see a lot of potential in this market segment and from here we can easily supply Austria and the rapidly growing market in the neighbouring countries to the east,” said Michael Hehn, Director of Pet Food Holding.
The 25-million investment is made up of own funds of the investor group, a country and EU funding and a loan from the Austrian Economic Service GmbH.
