One of the most important things you need to do is to buy DDGS from the same ethanol plant every time, says Dr James Pierce, a nutrition specialist who is studying the issue at the University of Kentucky.
Pierce says moisture levels of DDGS will be different from plant to plant. Even if you are getting it from the same plant all the time, you should have a sample taken regularly to ensure you are feeding proper diets, he adds.
Pierce also notes that although some say that DDGS is not suitable to use in pig and poultry diets, it just comes back to knowing whats in thet product and formulating a diet around it.
