Enzyme lowers energy input in extruded dog food

Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the ability of a-amylase to improve the production characteristics of a corn-based dog food using an extruder. It was concluded that a-amylase lowers energy consumption at the extruder, while maintaining desired finished product densities.
