A man is dead after he was buried under tons of cattlefeed at a farm at Tuakau, New Zealand.
Inspector Gavin MacDonald said the man was trying to unload a truckload of
calf feed when the incident happened. When the tailgate of his truck failed to
open automatically the driver tried to manually operate the tailgate. As the
gate opened he became trapped and was buried under several tonnes of the feed,
Mr MacDonald said.
Police and Department of Labour occupational safety
and health officers are currently at the scene investigating the incident, he
said.
