Guyana Minister of Agriculture Leslie Ramsammy has warned Guyana’s poultry industry that in the wake of the US drought, and its influence on world wide feed prices, he will ensure that all laws are complied with.
Guyana chicken production for the first half of 2012 was up by 12%, though farmers were complaining about the cost, availability and quality of stock feed.
Ramsammy stated that prices were pushed up without advance notice to farmers or the ministry.
The Ministry of Agriculture intends to hold a consultation with animal feed experts.
