More than 300 people celebrated the grand opening of the new Feed Mill Educational Unit in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University.
“This is a great
day,” said Dean Johnny Wynne, College of
Agriculture and Life Sciences,
who presided over the dedication ceremony. “The
new feed mill completes our goal to create a fully integrated, environmentally
sound system addressing all elements of commercial livestock production.”
Located at N.C. State’s Lake Wheeler Road Field Laboratory in Raleigh,
the feed mill is the centerpiece of the college’s Feed Milling Education
Initiative, which is designed to prepare students for leadership roles in the
feed milling industry and to provide the underlying educational and research
programs required to support a sustainable industry.
Dr. John Gilligan,
N.C. State Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, said during the
event that the opening of the feed mill “puts us closer to our goal to make N.C.
State the number one feed milling program in the nation, if not the world.”
