Novacarb increases sodium bicarbonate production capacity

Novacarb opens a new 50,000 tonnes per year sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) production unit end of 2010 on its industrial facility Laneuveville-devant-Nancy in France.

Besides its specialized soda ash production, which is mainly used in the glass, detergent and chemical industriesm, Novacarb also produces and sells a wide range of sodium bicarbonate-based products which are used in many different applications such as animal feed, food, pharmaceutical, flue gas treatment, detergent among others.
 
In order to provide high-quality products as well as a wider range of services, the company has initiated an ambitious development program, estimated to €15M over 3 years 2008-2010, aiming at meeting the increasing demand in sodium bicarbonate and derivatives.
 
As a first step it opened end 2008 a new second Novafeed sodium bicarbonate production line and improved early 2009 the existing Bicafeed unit in order to achieve a production capacity of 60,000 t/year for the different sodium bicarbonate grades.
 
The second step will involve building an additional sodium bicarbonate production unit with a capacity of 50,000 t/year. The commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2010.
 
Technical day
Novacarb is going to organize on June 29th 2010 on the La Madeleine site (close to Nancy, France) a technical day dedicated to sodium bicarbonate usage in animal feed. A visit of the site is planned.
 
Novacarb, a company of the chemistry group Novacap, is specialized in producing and selling soda ash, sodium bicarbonate as well as sodium sulphate and limestone. The annual turnover is around €100 M with 300 employees.
