People: Monsanto announce new head of business

Michiel de Jongh has been appointed the head of business of Monsanto in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Elena Fomina, previously occupied the position of Director of Monsanto Ukraine starting 2009, led the direction of seed supply in Ukraine and Russia.

Changes in the management of the company will be related to the expansion of business of Monsanto in the CIS region, reported informational agency SoyaNews from a Monsanto Ukraine press release.

Experts predict a sharp increase in the activity of the company in the market of the Customs Union in the coming years.

De Jongh, who has a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, working in Monsanto since 2004 in management of regional and global levels in Latin and South America, as well as in the Asia-Pacific region.

“I am honoured to be able to manage the company Monsanto in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, because these countries are located in one of the major grain regions of the world and are the leading producers of food and feed at the global level. Continually investing in technology and the development of its employees, Monsanto could occupy a significant place in the supply of corn and canola seeds in the region. I intend to continue to grow our business and strengthen the company’s reputation as a producer of high-quality seeds and crop protection products, a supplier of technology and efficient management, doing all I can to help farmers become more successful,” De Jongh said.
