Preserving fresh grass with old method

Preserving fresh grass with old method

A group of Dutch dairy farmers have investigated the efficacy of an old fashioned procedure to better preserve freshly mowed grass to be used in winter times.

Literature from the late 40’s showed that by adding
carbonated ice the grass remains fresh for about a week. This could mean that
farmers don’t have to mow every day.

Field trials, however, showed disappointing results. The grass
with the added carbonated ice cubes remained fresh for only one day, after
that it already became mouldy. Conclusion: it kind of works, but it has no
perspective at all.
