Vitamin A and E are both lacking real direction, but at the moment it seems more towards weaker than towards bullish. Learn more in this week’s feed additives snapshot (week 39).

Buyers have contracted nearby needs and sellers are not really offering, apart from some traders trying to move material. Prices remain very high. More directions should be seen once new demand is there. Vitamin D3 500 is low on stock and replenishment slow, so prices remain high for now and this current price level seems to be the new reality for buyers, although they remain very careful.

B3, B1, B6, K3 remain a bit firm but most of them are contracted ahead by now, so those markets have become more quiet. In general there is a constant desire from manufacturers and suppliers to increase vitamin prices.

Vitamin E 50%

At the moment the market is in a strong wait-and-see mode. Manufacturers are not offering, buyers are contracted for Q4 and a portion of Q1, and in some cases traders are trying to move stock. Prices are mostly stable at the moment, at a high price level. As soon as new demand is coming into the market, it will be clearer what the direction is going to be.

Vitamin A 1000

Similar to vitamin E, vitamin A has a strong wait-and-see attitude. Prices are high and availability seems to be tight, although traders are offering material now and then. Most manufacturers refrain from offering additional, but at the same time, buyers are also very quiet as they can carry on into Q4 and want to see how things play out. Prices have mostly stabilised this week at a high price level.

Vitamin D3 500

As there are no clear indications that stock levels and overall availability are going to improve anytime soon, prices remain very firm in all regions. Buyers have adjusted to this new situation and new higher price level and have enough contract coverage to continue into Q4. And in case they need to buy more material, they no longer wait and see for potential lower prices, but pay current market prices. The market is calm right now.

Vitamin B2 80%

No changes are seen in the market compared to last week. In China and the US, the market is relatively stable and calm. In Europe, the prices recently went up a bit, as local suppliers claim to have reduced output and logistical challenges now. But that is now stable again. By now most of Q4 has been contracted.

D-Calpan

Some attempts by suppliers to increase the price are seen, but no reaction from the buyer’s side of the market so far. Availability is okay and there is decent forward cover into Q4. Prices remain very low, but the market is still in oversupply and no signs of significant change are seen in that situation.

Vitamin B3

Ongoing desire of most manufacturers to increase the price. Although some also are keen to keep or grow a certain market share. And also the argument of higher raw material costs is used to increase prices further. Over the past few weeks, a significant cover has been taken forward and Q4 is mostly contracted. There is still some activity seen, but nothing major.

Biotin

Suppliers have been a bit more vocal about the desire to increase prices, as biotin is still historically low-priced. But most buyers are well contracted ahead for Q4 and even partly Q1. The market remains very quiet.

Vitamin C 35% mono

Several suppliers indicate to be in long-term summer plant maintenance still and several of them are not keen to offer new material. At the same time, there seems to be enough material available and the price has been very stable lately and there is a decent cover forward already. As soon as new demand is coming on the market, it could become clearer what the direction of the market is going to be. For now, it remains very quiet.
