AllerPetfood gets Russian FSSC 22000 certification

Aller Petfood, a Danish petfood company, has become one of 15 companies in Russia to have the FSSC 22000 certification.

In April 2012, the Aller Petfood factory producing wet petfood near Saint Petersburg, Russia, successfully passed certification audit, which resulted in a decision to issue the FSSC 22000 certificate to the company.

It took three years for the Russian division of Danish concern Aller Petfood to develop and implement the Quality and food safety management system based on HACCP principles in accordance with the requirements of international standards ISO 22000 and ISO/TS 22002-1. These standards provide the basis for the certification scheme FSSC 22000, which is recognized by the international organization Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

The certification scheme implies not only the presence of a well-developed control system supported by numbers of records and documents, but also compliance of the company’s production facilities and infrastructure to international requirements for the food industry. Finally, and very important to Aller Petfood, the certification for compliance with GFSI requirements is recognized by the leading retailers Metro Group, Auchan, Wal Mart, Tesco, ICA, Spar International, Carrefour, Migros, Ahold, Delhaize, etc., simplifying  the approval procedure when concluding a contract. The Russian division of Aller Petfood holds an impressive market share of about 50% of the production of private label food for dogs and cats in Russia.
