Aquafeed Platform 2010: Extrusion, nutrition and feed management

21-10-2010 | |

The 10th Annual Aquafeed Platform 2010: Aquaculture Feed Extrusion, Nutrition & Feed Management will be held on November 8-9, 2010, in Het Pand, Ghent University, Belgium.

“Practical problems require quick and decisive actions and aquafeed technologies offers tremendous opportunities to eliminate feed waste, enhance fish growth and efficiency, offer enhanced products stability and nutrition, and consequently to increase profitability of processors”, said Drs. Koseoglu and Ignace Debruyne, the organizers of the short course.

In cooperation they have trained over 1,500 processors, technicians, chemists, technologists and entrepreneurs in the USA, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

The course is split in two separate courses:

Monday, November 8, 2010:
Program 1: Extruder control and operation for optimized production & product quality
  • Ingredients and processing
  • Extrusion technology
  • Analytical techniques in extrusion control and product quality
  • Post extrusion processes
Tuesday, November 9, 2010:
Program 2: Trends and markets in aquaculture feed ingredients, nutrition, and formulation
  • Market trends
  • Feed ingredients
  • Practical considerations in feed formulation
  • Feed manufacturing technology
  • Quality assurance
Eleven experts from industry and academia will cover the fundamentals of aquafeed processing technologies, process design and optimization, feed formulation, nutrition, economics, and quality.

Training new personnel
This is a crash course for new plant personnel and an opportunity for those who are experienced to meet experts in the field to discuss their current problems to enhance their plant operations.

The course material will also serve as a useful reference for processors, product formulators, chemists and technicians as well as business managers familiar with aquafeed, extrusion, nutrition and feed management.

This is the only extensive program in Europe that covers a wide range of topics with specific practical aspects and geared to decision-makers such as technicians, equipment manufacturers, plant engineers, and sales and marketing specialists.

Registered attendees will have the opportunity to network with other industry professionals at the short course.
