The Argentine Agriculture Secretariat this week slightly raised its forecasts for Argentina’s 2006/07 maize and soybean sowing areas, but did not estimate production.
In its monthly report, the government raised its forecast
for the 2006/07 soybean area to a record 16.05 million hectares from December’s
forecast for 16.0 million hectares, and raised its outlook for the maize area to
3.5 million hectares from 3.45 million hectares a month earlier, reports
Reuters.
Wheat production is estimated at 13.7 million tonnes for 2006/07.
