Cherkizovo’s new grain storage facility to be the region’s largest

Igor Babaev, Cherkizovo’s chairman and Vasily Bochkarev, Governor of Penza Region, visited the construction site of Cherkizovo’s new grain storage facility in the Kamensky District, Russia. When completed it will be the largest grain storage facility in the Penza region.

Cherkizovo bought the Kamenka grain warehouse in 2012, and have invested €11.6 million (500 million rubles). When it is completed it will have the capacity for 100,000 tons of grain. The project is about 80% complete and expected to be launched in the autumn of 2013.

The Cherkizovo Group has been developing the Penza Region agriculture industry for more than 15 years. They have invested over that time a total of €350 million (15 billion rubles) and created approximately 5,000 jobs. In addition to the grain storage facility currently under construction, the company is implementing projects in the poultry, pork, meat processing, and grain farming divisions.

Cherkizovo Group is the largest meat manufacturer in Russia and one of the top three companies serving Russia’s poultry, pork and meat processing markets. The company is also Russia’s largest producer of fodder.
