Dioxin levels in contaminated feed fat are 78 times too high

07-01-2011 | |

The fats that German company Harles und Jentzsch produced for the animal feed industry contained dioxin levels that were 78 times too high.

These extreme levels have been confirmed today (January 7th) by the German Ministry of Agriculture in Schleswig-Holstein.

The Ministry has taken samples and investigated the dioxin levels. In 9 out of 10 samples the feed fat was contaminated with dioxins. In samples taken earlier it was already confirmed that the levels were too high, but then the dioxin levels were "only" twice the maximum allowed levels.
