Cees Veerman, 57, the Netherlands’ agricultural minister until last month, has decided to pursue his career as professor at Wageningen University & Research Centre and Tilburg University, both in the Netherlands.
At both universities, Veerman will focus on long-lasting development of the
countryside seen from a European perspective. At both universities he will spend
approximately six hours per week.
In his research and education, Veerman is
said to be intending to spend attention to European cooperation in international
issues like energy policy, climate policy and food policy.
Before
becoming minister, Veerman was attached to Wageningen University being chairman
of the board – prior to that he was a lecturer in agricultural business
economics at Tilburg University.
