Feeding DDGS produces more ammonia

23-03-2007 | |

The use of the by product DDGS is not environmentally friendly, according to research presented at the International Ammonia Congress in the Netherlands.

When feeding DDGS, the animals produces more ammonia
and also the hydrogen sulfide (H2S) production can be eight times higher than
feeding no DDGS.

The International Conference on Ammonia in Agriculture:
Policy, Science, Control and Implementation was held on 19, 20 and 21 March
2007, and was organised by Wageningen UR (The Netherlands) and the University of
Kiel (Germany).
