Global dairy leaders meet for third time

04-08-2010 | |

In what has quickly emerged as a premier forum for global dairy leaders, the third Global Dairy 500 will be held in Lexington, Kentucky, November 1-4, 2010.

Global animal nutrition company Alltech is building on the success of its inaugural program which saw more than 300 people from approximately 30 countries in attendance.

The Global Dairy 500 is designed to identify future trends of dairy production and dairy nutrition while meeting short term expectations.

The program’s agenda is targeted towards the progressive dairymen interested in growing their business through progressive technology.

Alltech president Dr. Pearse Lyons stated, “Since 2008, we have brought together over 600 of the world’s most progressive dairy farmers to network and discuss the most relevant and challenging topics in the industry.”

Sustainability topics
This year’s program, “Sustainability in a Changing World” will urge delegates to gain knowledge and share ideas about sustainable strategies and practices that can be implemented now and in the future.

Participants from around the world are invited to a global forum where dairy is the only topic and dairy farmers are the main drivers.

Countries with heavy dairy influence, such as New Zealand, China, South Africa, and Ireland will all be represented.

The four keynote speakers and topics are:
  • Protecting your image: Why the agricultural industry needs branding more than ever – Dr. Pearse Lyons, Alltech
  • Future of feed formulations: Improving ruminant health with new technologies- Jay Johnston, Ritchie Feed and Seed
  • Crisis management: Sustaining a business in turbulent times- Peter Kerr, Kerr Communication
  • Feed efficiency: Increasing the bottom line without compromising quality – Mike Hutjens, University of Illinois
