Nestlé invests AU$31 million in Australian petfood plant

Nestlé Purina PetCare is investing just over €24 million (AU$31 million) to expand their pet food factory in New South Wales, Australia. When it is completed at the end of this year it will be the most technologically advanced of its kind in the world.

The factory, located in the town of Blayney, currently produces around 100,000 tonnes of products a year for domestic consumption and export, including well-known dog and cat food brands such as Beneful, Pro Plan and Friskies.

This is the latest of several Nestlé Purina has made in its manufacturing sites around the world over the past 18 months. In July last year the company invested to expand its factory in Hungary, and followed by its factory in Russia in August.

Nestlé Purina is one of the world’s largest pet food companies, with global sales of more than CHF 13 billion in 2010.
