New Zealand screens Chinese food imports

04-05-2007 | |

The New Zealand Food Safety Authority’s standards director, Tim Knox, says no products involved in the US pet food scare have entered New Zealand.

The authorities say that certain Chinese products will now be sampled to be
sure that no contaminated ingredient is imported.

Sixteen deaths have
been linked to pet food contaminated with the chemical melamine, and thousands
of others are being investigated.
