Construction of one of the largest feed mills in the Amur region of Russia began recently, with a planned capacity of 60,000 tonnes of feed per year. The plant will be built by “Amurptitseprom” near the town Belogorsk.
About half of the feed produced will be shipping directly to Nicholas poultry farm (the largest poultry farm in the region). The remained will be split between being sold to private farms or exported.
Future plans for the plant is that the production will be increased by 50% to 90,000 tonnes per year.
“This is very important project as the programmes for livestock industry development, which are currently being implemented in the Amur region, require a significant amount of feed. The project perfectly fits into the agricultural policy pursued by the regional government, and we will fully support him, “- said the Amur Region Governor Oleg Kozhemyako.
The construction of the company will go under the private-public partnership. “Amurptitseprom” will receive from the regional government two grain storages with total capacity of 30,000 tonnes of grain and a modern laboratory to determine the quality of grain.
The investment necessary for the project is 230 million roubles (US$ 7.7 mln). The first stage of the construction is expected to be finished in late 2013, and fully completed in 2014. The investment payback period is estimated to be about 7 years.
