According to data from from the Russian Federal Static Service the volume of purchasing and processing of grain for feed production in February of 2013 was 607.2 thousand tonnes, 9.8% less than in January and the lowest figure for the last 6 months.

At the same time Rosstat noted a number of changes in the structure of the Russian feed production. Wheat is still ranked first among all the crops used in animal feed production. Feed producers purchased almost 299 thousand tonnes of wheat in February. However, in February, the volume of wheat processing for feed decreased by 11.8%, (almost 40,000 tonnes) compared to January 2013. As a result, the share of processed wheat in the structure of grains processed to feed was 49.2%.

At the same time, Russian farmers increased the share of corn feed production. Thus, in February, it was 21.4% of the total structure an increase on January by 1.2%. Purchases were also up compared to January by 4.4% (5.9 tonnes) with the total of almost 130 thousand tonnes.
