Early April, Geelen Counterflow organised the second Geelen Counterflow Dryer and Cooler Training in Haelen, the Netherlands. Subjects such as mass and energy balance, moisture uniformity, energy efficiency and food safety for pet food and aquafeed were discussed.
The first day was a case of “back to school” for most, doing physics and arithmetic to understand what is behind the design and control of a cooler or dryer. The second day included workshops on burners, product distribution, steam heaters, moisture measurement, control systems etc. And the third day Food Safety was on the agenda. Participants were very enthusiastic, scoring the training with an average of 9 out of 10.
Next year’s Dryer and Cooler Training will be held in Roermond, The Netherlands in October 2010.
