Russia is expected to lift its three year ban on imports of animal feed and poultry products from Sweden.
The move follows a meeting between the head of the Russia veterinary
authority Rosselkhoznador, Sergey Dankvert and the Swedish agriculture minister
Eskilem Erlandsson.
Safety of animal feed
The
discussion revolved around the safety of animal feed and poultry products that
have been banned since 2004 following an outbreak of Newcastle disease in
Sweden. The new agreement will also allow the export of poultry breeding stock
into Russia.
During the visit to Sweden Mr. Dankvert also held talks
with the 13 strong Russian veterinary inspection team in the Swedish meat
plants.
