As announced last week, HKScan has become a member of the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS), and thereby committed itself to continuously promoting greater ethical responsibility in the entire meat value chain.

HKScan Sweden is the first HKScan Group company to take a concrete step towards the execution of this commitment – it has joined the Swedish Soy Dialogue network (Svenska Sojadialogen). The voluntary network includes branch organizations, feed industry, food producers and store chains who want to ensure that the food products Swedish consumers buy are based on soy certified according to the RTRS or ProTerra principles and criteria.

Organizations and companies within the network will guarantee that in 2014 at least 60 percent, and in 2015 100 percent, of the soy they use or sell will be responsibly produced. Soy is an important source of protein in animal feed. Commitment to responsible soy is a key part of sustainable food production.

“It is important that consumers and customers can trust that our products are based on responsible soy”, says Göran Holm, EVP, Consumer Business Scandinavia, HKScan.

HKScan Group is strongly committed to promoting more responsibly produced soy, ensuring that the entire value chain from animal feed to the consumer’s plate is environmentally and socially sustainable. HKScan will ensure that by the end of 2018, all soy used in its entire meat value chain in all its home markets will meet the strict requirements of the RTRS.
