Aviagen appoints global head of nutrition services

Global poultry breeder, Aviagen, has appointed Dr Alejandro (Alex) Corzo as global head of nutrition services. In his new role, Corzo will manage Aviagen’s global team of eight nutritionists.

He and his team of poultry nutritionists, collectively with more than 150 years of knowledge and experience, will ensure Aviagen continues to provide innovative nutrition technical support for the company’s global client base and Aviagen internal production operations. Dr Corzo will also help lead innovative company research to keep nutrition technical advice current and relevant.

Dr Corzo received his BS in Animal Science at the Universidad de La Salle – Colombia, an MS in Poultry Nutrition at Oklahoma State University, and a PhD in Poultry Nutrition at Auburn University. He also completed a Post-Doctoral program in Poultry Nutrition at Mississippi State University. Prior to this appointment, Corzo worked as an Associate Professor at Mississippi State University for eight years and for the last three years has worked at Elanco as a Poultry Research Scientist.

“An important part of commercial poultry production is nutrition – proper nutrition is reflected in bird behavior, well-being, and biological performance. Nutrition continues to be a major cost component of production. Aviagen remains committed to building and maintaining the strongest and most experienced global nutrition services team in the industry,” said Dr Bryan Fancher, Group VP Global Technical Operations. “With his strong back ground in teaching, real-world industry experience, research and development and technical guidance, Dr Corzo will provide great leadership to our global team, excellent support to our customers, and a strong vision for the Global Nutrition Team.”
