The Port of Tilbury located on the River Thames in the UK, has signed a five-year agreement with Cefetra to handle animal feed imports into the port for the East Anglian region.
The agreement, which commenced on the 1st January 2015, will see the terminal at Tilbury handling thousands of tonnes of animal feed each year.
The port will also provide a dedicated storage facility which will ensure the product is protected and easily accessible for onward road transport.
Commenting on the announcement, Perry Glading, chief operating officer of Forth Ports Limited, who own the port, said: “Tilbury is the perfect location for the key agricultural market in the east of England and Cefetra will benefit from the expertise in this cargo handling, our warehouse capabilities and onward logistical connections from the port.”
Andrew Mackay, managing director of Cefetra Ltd, added: “We feel that Tilbury is an excellent location for us to supply our customers in the South and East of England. The high quality logistical facilities and the commitment from the Port of Tilbury will help us to provide a professional and efficient service to our customer base in the region for the foreseeable future.”
