The company also launched Gallicalm, a premix of additives composed of active plant ingredients designed to reduce stress in poultry rearing, and to limit deviant behaviour such as pecking between birds, which can lead to feather loss, injuries and even serious complications such as cannibalism.

The neonate survival rates after 5 days were comparable to, or higher than, those in the control group.
Probiotic live yeast key to reducing fattening time and improving FCR
Including a probiotic live yeast in pig diets can shorten the fattening period by 3 days and improve feed conversion ratio (down 2.6%), according to results from a recent year-long trial carried out across 27,000 pigs in 66 batches where 32 batches were supplemented with the probiotic live yeast, Levucell SB (Saccharomyces cerevisiae boulardii CNCM I-1079) by Lallemand Animal Nutrition.
New e-learning modules on supplier assessment and management
Alltech has released an interim report with the preliminary findings of its mycotoxin testing programme. In its 2024 European Harvest Analysis, samples of new-crop grains and forages collected from farms or animal feed production sites in 20 countries are tested. Corn samples from central and southern Europe are also tested in collaboration with SGS. The report shows moderate to high mycotoxin risk so far in 2024, with significant regional variations. Type B trichothecenes and emerging mycotoxins are most prevalent, but type B trichothecenes like deoxynivalenol are bringing the most risk in grains. The report also details specific results from wheat and barley, straw and forages. In the Alltech 2024 US Harvest Analysis, the preliminary analysis of corn silage samples reveals a high increase in mycotoxin contamination compared to 2023, with all samples containing 2 or more mycotoxins.
