The US ethanol industry is expected to produce 17 million tons of the byproduct Dried Distillers Grains (DDGS) in 2007, 5 million tons more than previous year, says Geoff Cooper, director of ethanol and business development at the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA).
Ireland and the United Kingdom, both members of the European
Union, are importing about half the amount they did five years ago, according to
Cooper. The growth in imports of US DDGS has been in the Pacific and in North
America.
