EU granted Borregaard €4 million to demonstrate biorefinery concepts in action.
The Norwegian company is involved in two of the three projects selected to receive funding under the EU’s seventh framework programme for research and development.
One of the projects, EuroBioRef, is coordinated from Lille University in France and has 28 partners all developing methods for making chemicals from biomass. The other project is called Suprabio. With 16 partners, it involves complete biorefinery processes from biomass to a range of products. In this project, the company is contributing with microfibrillar cellulose.
