Anne-Laure Gassin, Director of Communications, has left EFSA following her appointment as permanent official in the European Commission.
She has joined the European Commission’s Health and Consumers Directorate General (DG SANCO), as of today. Her work at DG SANCO will support the further development of policy on sustainability in the food chain, and in particular the prevention of food waste.
Ms. Gassin successfully led EFSA’s communications for more than 10 years and helped advance risk communications on food safety in Europe, building strong networks with national food safety agencies and stakeholders across the EU.
Alessia Vecchio, currently Head of Human Capital & Knowledge Management at EFSA, has been appointed Acting Director of Communications until a permanent appointment is made. Ms. Vecchio brings extensive experience from both the private and public European sectors in terms of people and organisational management, assets that will greatly facilitate the smooth running of the Communications Directorate during this interim period.
