Dufagro was established at EuroTier 2004 when five feed additive suppliers concluded that working together could be beneficial to them in terms networking, product responsibilities, terms of delivery and having a stronger foothold in talks with governmental organisations.
During the last five years the group has increased to 14 members, all mid-size feed additive suppliers.
“In future we intend to keep an enduring role in the feed additive sector and contribute to a healthy, safe and sustainable livestock and animal feed industry,” said Dufagro chairman Jan Speerstra.
Dr Willem Penning, Head of the Animal feed section of the European Commission, elaborated on the procedures for registering of a feed additive.
Feed additive suppliers and manufacturers have until November 2010 to re-submit (new) dossiers of already registered feed additives in the EU.
“If these dossiers have been submitted and are registered, then the additive can remain on the market until the European Feed Safety Authority (EFSA) has made a decision,” Pennings said.
