By acquiring Ivy Animal Health Inc., a Kansas-based privately held pharmaceutical company, Eli Lilly and Co. plans to boost its animal health division.
After the acquisition, Ivy will be an operating unit of Elanco Animal Health
(a division of Eli Lilly). Last year, Elanco brought in $875.5 million in
revenue, a small portion of Lilly’s total of $15.7 billion.
Ivy’s
principal products are beef cattle growth promoting products. The company also
maintains a database on nutritional and health information for more than 60
million animals.
Ivy will continue to operate from its Overland Park,
Kan., location after the deal closes, according to Lilly.
