A preliminary investigation indicated that the fire Saturday at Darling International started accidentally when a processing byproduct overheated, firefighters said.
The fire caused severe structural damage and destroyed equipment and all of the product inventory at the plant, they said.
The company reported $2.5 to $3 million worth of damage.
