FOSS wins prestigious food industry prize

The Danish Food Forum awarded its Quality and Innovation Prize 2008 to FOSS. The award, regarded as the Danish food industry’s ‘Oscar’, was presented by Danish Minister of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, Eva Kjer Hansen to FOSS COO Torben Ladegaard.

The award is motivated by the importance that FOSS plays regarding the
position of Danish food products in the world market – and for FOSS’
contribution to a perception of Denmark as leading within the fields of
developing healthy and safe food products, reduced waste of resources, healthy
livestock and a better environment.

Major analytical
solutions
Innovation and development are central to the growth of
FOSS – a fact reflected in more than 100 international patents and that more
than 200 of the total 1,150 employees in FOSS work within Research &
Development departments in Scandinavia and the US.  In 2008 alone, FOSS has
launched three major analytical solutions;

* Herd Navigator, developed
together with Swedish DeLaval and the Danish Cattle Federation, provides the
dairy farmer with fast and essential information about the cow’s needs for
feeding and its state of health and pregnancy.

*In the wine sector,
OenoFoss is a revolutionary new analyser, which, from a few drops of a sample
can determine whether grapes are ready for harvest or whether wine has finished
its fermentation.

*The latest product launch has been the MilkoScan FT+
for advanced central milk testing and dairy herd improvement including the
possibility to analyse saturated and un-saturated fat content in raw milk
towards more healthy milk demanded by consumers.
