Illegal immigrants hide in animal feed load
Romanian and Hungarian border police caught 36 illegal migrants from Iraq and Afghanistan hiding in a lorry carrying a load of animal feed, the Romanian police said Sunday.
The migrants were found Saturday hidden in a special compartment in a Polish-registered lorry bound for Hungary at Romania’s Varsand border checkpoint.
They wanted to reach Europe’s 25 nation passport-free Schengen zone, authorities said.
In March, 50 migrants from Afghanistan, including 15 children, were discovered in a truck carrying vinegar at the border between Romania and Hungary.
