Kemin presents new research on probiotics in turkeys
Kemin Industries, Inc. presents findings from field studies which evaluated the effect of Bacillus subtilis PB6 fed to turkeys with varying degrees of Clostridial dermatitis during the 2009 American Association of Avian Pathologists/American Veterinary Medical Association meeting, July 11-14, 2009 in Seattle, Washington.
Andrew G. Yersin, Ph.D., director of research and development for Kemin Agrifoods North America, presented “Application of Bacillus subtilis PB6 in turkey field trials” during the poster session of the meeting.
The results of this study support the hypothesis that Bacillus subtilisPB6 can have a positive impact on intestinal balance in turkeys with Clostridiumdermatitis.
Bacillus subtilisPB6, a spore-forming organism, was identified in the gut of a healthy chicken by Kemin scientists.
This strain was selected due to its uniqueness, activity and positive impact on gut microflora. Bacillus subtilisPB6 is the active ingredient in CloSTAT® brand direct-fed microbial from Kemin.
