13-07-2009 | |

LeSaffre Feed Additives has gained approval for use of its Selsaf selenium enriched yeast as a nutritional feed additive in the EU.

After having received approval by EFSA for safety and efficiency in March 2009, the last Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health vote of the European Commission, approved Selsaf as a nutritional feed additive under the number EC 3b8.12.

Selsaf is deactivated yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-3399) high in organic selenium (mainly selenomethionine).

Its selenium content is guaranteed at 2,200 (± 200) mg Se/kg with 97 to 99% of organic selenium.
The selenium enriched yeast is currently approved for ruminants, pigs, poultry, horses and rabbits.

In the European Union, the product will be available from the 15th of July 2009 and will be sold at a very competitive price compared to current market offer.
