Novus appoints Manager of Aquaculture Nutrition

“Aquaculture is very dependent on the use of marine resources as protein and lipid sources in aquatic animal feeds,” said Bharadwaj. “The use of alternate or novel feed ingredients may often compromise the growth and health of aquatic animals.”

 “I am excited about the various strategies, solutions and products available at Novus that can be applied to aquatic animals to ameliorate these problems,” said Bharadwaj. “I am also interested in contributing to the effort to keep aquaculture sustainable and am excited about Novus’s commitment to sustainable animal production.”
 “Dr. Bharadwaj brings a lot of great experience and research in the aquaculture field to Novus and will be an important asset to our team,” said Craig Browdy, Senior Manager of Aquaculture Research.

After earning his Bachelor’s degree at Bangalore University in India, Bharadwaj proceeded to earn two Master’s degrees, one from the University of Rhode Island and the other from the University of Tasmania, Australia. He earned his Ph.D. in aquatic animal nutrition from Purdue University. Bharadwaj is currently a member of the World Aquaculture Society, United States Aquaculture Society and Global Aquaculture Alliance.

Throughout his career, major research projects include studies on the effects of anti-nutritional factors in soybeans on salmonids, developing low fish meal and fish meal-free diets as well as the use of alternate lipid sources in fish and the absorption of minerals in trout.
