NSW welcomes $3m grain line boost

22-05-2008 | |

The New South Wales Government has welcomed a substantial financial boost from the Federal Government to develop viable long-term solutions to grain transport in the state.

Three-million-dollars has been set aside in the Federal Budget towards the
Grain Rail Task Force. The State Government’s funding includes an additional $30
million over the next year to support operations on the country regional
network, and another $15 million to maintain the branch line network, which
includes the grain lines.

Australia’s largest private rail freight
operator, Pacific National, has committed to branch line operations, but only
until June 2009.
