Pakistan feed mills closed for bad smell

20-01-2009 | |

Capital Feed Mill and SB Feed Mill based in Pakistan, have been closed down by the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency in regard to contravening health laws.

Both companies are producers of animal feed, mainly
for the poultry industry and utilize animal by products in their production. The
plants have been closed under the Environmental Act section 16, whereby they
have been accused of causing unnecessary smells and waste material in their
production.

Both companies have had warnings, on numerous occasions since
2003 to no avail. The problems caused by the closures are two fold, one there
will be a shortage of poultry feed for farmers and two processing plants, will
have to find alternative outlets for waste material.
