PEOPLE: Professor Daniel Thomas director of Fermentalg

With a Ph.D. in Physics, Daniel Thomas (66) is Professor at the University of Technology of Compiègne, Chairman of the Scientific ADRIA Development, Director of Studies at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes in Paris and member of the Academy of Technology.

 

He is also Chairman of the competitiveness cluster "Industries and Agro-resources" and the Regional Agency for Innovation in Picardie (Picardy ARI) in France.

 

Daniel Thomas is director of the company METabolic Explorer, a French biological chemistry listed on NYSE Euronext in Paris.

 

In addition to his appointment, Daniel Thomas says, "I am very pleased to be able to contribute to the emergence of a new player in the French biotech industry.

Created in 2009 by Pierre Calleja, Fermentalg is a biotechnology company specializing in the industrial production of bio-chemical molecules by microalgae.

 

This proprietary technology combined with its rich seed bank allows it to target diverse markets ranging from animal feed to specialty chemistry through nutrition and biofuels.
