In Italy and Spain he will be a vital part of Provimi’s ruminant market development efforts. “This will include distributor training and technical advice on our products,” says Hulshof.
Rob grew up on a dairy farm in the east of Holland and has a broad practical farm management background.
He then spent a year in New Zealand working on a 1200-cow unit where he was responsible for dry cow management. “I became very interested in dry cow management and in the cow’s metabolism in this period, because it has a huge impact on subsequent cow performance” he adds.
Fuelled with this interest, he returned to Holland and to Wageningen University where he obtained a Master-degree in animal nutrition. His thesis included a sustainability project on the effect of nitrate on methane production in beef cattle, carried out for Provimi in conjunction with a Brazilian research institute.
Over the past 2 years, Hulshof has been working as a ruminant research nutritionist within Provimi.
