PFMA publishes pet food ingredient guide

19-07-2007 | |

The UK Pet Food Manufacturers Association, (PFMA) has published an online guide for pet owners entitled “What’s in pet food”.

New documents on the PFMA website tell pet owners
about the ingredients
typically used in manufactured pet food
and why they are used. The new guide
also offers advice on feeding cats and dogs, including how to maintain an
ideal body condition.

Feeding tips
For schools,
colleges, vet shops and pet shops the site offers a downloadable poster with top feeding tips. Additionally, the
site has an Ideal body condition sheet. Here owners can compare their own
cats and dogs against a table of ideal pet sizes and weights.

The PFMA
is the principle trade body representing the UK pet food industry. Its 50
members account for over 90% of the market.
