12-09-2008 | |

Novus International, Inc. has initiated a precautionary and controlled shutdown of their Alimet production facility in Chocolate Bayou, Texas. This action is in accordance with the mandatory evacuation of Brazoria County Texas related to Hurricane Ike.

The Alimet production facility is part of the 2,500 acre Solutia Industrial
Complex. The complex has been in place for over 45 years and has successfully
weathered numerous hurricanes. All possible measures and precautions have been
taken to protect against storm-related damage.

“Our top priority is
ensuring that the employees of Novus, Solutia and their families take the
necessary precautions for personal safety,” stated
Thad Simons, President and CEO, Novus International Inc. “Our thoughts are with
the evacuees during this stressful time.”

“Based on a long-standing
continuity plan, Novus has product inventory warehoused throughout the world, we
anticipate minimal business disruption as a result of this precautionary
shutdown,” explained Giovanni Gasperoni, Executive
Vice President, Sales and Marketing.

Novus intends to resume normal
operations as soon as the evacuation order is lifted and employees can safely
return to Brazoria County.
