Provimi Pet Food sells French site to rival ATM

06-10-2011 | |

Provimi Pet Food said it has sold its manufacturing factory in France to rival private-label pet-food producer ATM, as part of plans to streamline its manufacturing operations across Europe.

Financial details of the transaction weren’t disclosed. The sale of its French factory in Sens, near Paris, leaves Provimi Pet Food with seven production sites across Europe: two each in the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Hungary, and one in Slovakia.

Advent International bought Budapest-based Provimi Pet Food for €188 million from buyout firm Permira in March.

Provimi Pet Food is the second-largest producer of private-label wet and dry pet food in Europe, supplying approximately 280 customers, including major grocery retailers, in the 27 markets in which it operates.

Attila Balogh, Provimi Pet Food’s chief executive said that they are already the number one producer of dry and wet pet food in Holland, Hungary and the Czech Republic. “We expect to grow geographically in particular continuing the double-digit growth we are seeing in Germany, Poland and Romania."
