Raw material symposium held in Brussels

06-07-2007 | |

A European Symposium, entitled ‘Renewable Raw Materials for Industry: Contribution to Sustainable Chemistry’ is organised on the 17 and 18 October in Brussels, Belgium.

The symposium will explore ways in which renewable raw
materials from agricultural crops are increasingly driving the development of
industrial biotechnology, bio-based products and sustainable chemistry. By
helping these new and dynamic industries grow, renewable raw materials are
contributing substantially to Europe’s international competitiveness and move
forward on the basis of the conclusions of the Lisbon European
Council.

Topics discussed
During the symposium
we will show how the “Green Supply Chain” provides tailor-made solutions for a
range of industrial applications, describing the potential of agricultural crops
and the use of materials from these crops in the chemistry value chain. In
addition, European political framework and the integration of biobased materials
in the chemistry value chain will also be discussed.

Organisation
The symposium is prepared by ERRMA, in cooperation with SusChem, the European Technology
Platform for Sustainable Chemistry, and supported by EuropaBio, the European
Association for Bioindustries and COPA/COGECA. The Directorates General of Research, Enterprise
and Industry, Environment and Agriculture of the European Commission as well as
industry, agriculture and academic institutes will contribute to this
conference.
